Bilingual Nursery

Our two schools share the same program and activities.

Learning Areas:

At our bilingual nursery , we follow a curriculum that blends the goals of the French National Education system and the British Curriculum. It is organized into five distinct learning areas, which include:
  • Mobilizing language in all its dimensions, encompassing communication, language, and literacy.

  • Acting, expressing oneself, and understanding through physical activity, known as physical development.

  • Acting, expressing oneself, and understanding through artistic activities, known as creative development.

  • Building the initial tools necessary to structure one's thinking, known as mathematical development.

  • Exploring the world around us, known as knowledge and understanding of the world.

Our bilingual school prioritizes the holistic development of each child, preparing them for a seamless transition to the primary school cycle while adhering to the French National Education system's objectives. We understand the importance of festivities and celebrations and incorporate them into our curriculum, ensuring that our students are joyful and engaged in their learning. To guarantee the well-being of both our students and teaching staff, we focus on:

  • Fostering each child's uniqueness and individuality
  • Supporting their journey towards independence
  • Inculcating community values and ethics
  • Encouraging positive relationships with peers
  • Developing their sociability and openness to the world
  • Prioritizing their physical and psychological well-being
  • Encouraging their sensitivity, emotions, and creativity

Our curriculum has been refined annually since 1953, combining the objectives of the French National Education system and the British Curriculum. We teach both French and English equally, immersing our students in both languages on a half-day basis, from an introductory level to fluency.

Bilingual Nursery

Established in 1953, Le Petit Cours du Rocher offers one the oldest bilingual nursery class in Paris. But much more than bilingual nursery or preschool, our “Tout Petite Section” offers a real school curriculum, both academic and playful, to prepare children for entry into the “Petite Section” our bilingual Kindergarten class. The “Toute Petite Section” corresponds to the last year of nursery school in France, for 2 to 3 years old toddlers.

Our three “Toute Petite Section” native teachers and assistants create and foster a riveting “Great British Athmospher” for the children, allowing them to learn through experience, explore their creativity, and play often in cooperation. The class size is limited to twenty children per class, in order to foster kids and adults well-being. per class.

Our bilingual program, refined since 1953, combines academic, artistic, and psychosocial learning, with an emphasis on play and celebration.

In the first few months, the children understand their role in the group and gradually learn to contribute positively to the community, through attractive activities aimed at making them love school. This last year of bilingual nursery is particularly suitable for children who are more in search of discoveries and learning than daycare play. This setup allows children to start learning English as soon as two years old, with quick progress in both languages.

Inspired by the traditional British nursery, the Tout Petite Section uses the positive discipline principles to develop essential psychosocial skills, therefore with kindness, firmness, and encouragement. Our English workshops for kids, like our “lunch talk” or “show and tell” allow children to develop their self-awareness, self-control, communication skills and respect of the others.

Why be interested in a bilingual nursery ? Scientific studies show that exposure to two languages from an early age enriches children's cognitive abilities, such as logical reasoning, concentration, memory, problem-solving, and many other essential skills.

This program aims to ease the transition from home to school by familiarizing children with their new environment and allowing them to gradually become comfortable with their future classmates.

The Adaptation class takes place during the 2nd week of July, for either one or two weeks, with 2 hours/5 days, in the morning from 9 am to 11 am.
